Lakland Music Company is a Chicago-based bass guitar manufacturer that builds high-quality basses in a variety of configurations. Their electronics are exceptional and they have beautiful basses that are 5-strings, Hollowbody, Fretless, and more. Lakland basses are favored by artists such as Bob Glaub, Darryl Jones, Joe Osborn, Jerry Scheff, and Donal “Duck” Dunn among others.

Lakland Deluxe 55-94 5-String Bass Cherry Sunburst Maple Fretboard
It provides thumpin’ bass tone through an MM pickup in the bridge position and a traditional-style single-coil pickup at the neck. The MM has a coil splitter to maximize tonal range. The neck is quarter-sawn maple and features graphite reinforcement bars and a maple fretboard. The body is made of swamp ash. Hipshot UltraLight tuners. 35″ scale. Lakland Dual Access bridge. Controls include cut and boost; 3-band EQ; panning-style pickup blend; master volume (with pullout for preamp bypass); and 3-way, bridge-pickup coil-tap toggle. Includes hardshell case.

Lakland Skyline Fretless Hollowbody Bass Shoreline Gold
The Skyline Hollowbody results from the collaboration between master bass builder Michael Tobias and Lakland that led to the development of the original Hollowbody. This fretless version features the same 2-piece construction and cavity dimensions as the US-made model giving it a similar thick and rich tone with fantastic definition. Adding to its classy, vintage vibe, a single f-hole recalls the model’s acoustic instrument heritage.The natural tone is complemented by a set of splittable Bartolini humbuckers with snazzy chrome surrounds designed specifically for Lakland. Dial in a wide array of sounds with the volume, tone, and 3-way toggle. From deep, authoritative notes reminiscent of an upright to aggressive and throaty sounds capable of cutting through as a solo voice, the Hollowbody is responsive, with a solid tonal center that many hollow basses lack.

Darryl Jones has held down the groove for superstars such as Miles Davis, Sting, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, and Peter Gabriel. Darryl personally selected a pair of passive pickups designed by Aero Instrument for his signature bass. Traditional control setup includes 3 knobs: bridge volume, neck volume, and tone. The super-smooth, vintage-style ash body is enhanced with added curve to its contours and cutaways. A matching painted headstock adds even more vintage vibe.
