Founded in 1995 as a repair shop, the store slowly evolved into a showroom specializing in oddball vintage guitars and Chris DiPinto’s own guitar creations. Over the years, DiPinto has grown to include a full scale guitar manufacturing operation while still operating the original retail outlet.

DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar Blue With White Racing Stripes
Designed to be flashy and versatile, the Mach IV electric guitar offers more than just eye appeal; it doles out a good variety of tones and boasts good workmanship. A flipped over body, sweet finish, pearloid and chrome components, and groovy racing stripes (except on the all-white model) make it look like a cross between a ’50s dining set and a classic sports car. The star-shaped inlays match the pearloid overlays nicely. The solid stop tailpiece bridge is adjustable for intonation. The construction is good, with a tight four-bolt neck joint and lustrous finish. The electronics assembly and components are solid, especially for an instrument in this price range. The tone controls and output jack are grounded via a metal-foil plate attached to the pickguard’s underside, and the Mach IV is quiet.Basic in its tone-shaping components - a tone knobs, a volume knob, and pickup selector - the Mach IV is surprisingly versatile. The neck-pickup is placed at an angle only about 3/8″ away form the end of the slanted fingerboard, yielding a good variety of sounds. The Mach IV sounds slightly boxy with a prominent midrange and grinding top end. Blending pickups results in a full-bodied tone that works well in many styles. The Mach IV is the perfect ‘attitude guitar’ for surf, punk, or just about anything that requires being noticed. Flashy? You bet. Good-sounding? That too. Make sure your chops and wardrobe are up to it, you’re going to be in the spotlight.
DiPinto Galaxie 4 - Los Straitjackets Electric Guitar Silver Sparkle
The radical design elements of the Galaxie 4 electric guitar may require a certain sartorial confidence on stage, but much of the guitar’s strength is functional. The Galaxie 4’s matching tortoise pickguard and headstock ensemble, star inlays, and four (count ‘em, four) pickups scream fun. But the angled headstock combines cool surf looks with the ability to maintain tension across the 42mm nut without the use of string trees. This is especially functional on the Galaxie 4, where it helps the tremolo stay in tune. This lightweight poplar guitar also balances extremely well, with the neck hanging at a very comfortable angle when you’re strapped in. The maple, 4-bolt neck is attached to the headstock with a luthiers’ joint. The DiPinto Galaxie 4 guitar’s Jaguar style tremolo maintains the guitars tuning, bending one string doesn’t throw the others out of tune, and the guitar sustains well. It has a 25-1/2″ scale length and a club-like shape to the neck.If three pickups are good, four must be better! At first it might seem that the dudes at DiPinto Guitars decided to go a little nuts with the wiring set up, but, like its looks, the wiring of the Galaxie 4 electric guitar is as functional as it is freaky. The 5-way switch offers bridge pickup alone, bridge and two adjacent pickups, middle two, all four (yahoo!), or neck pickup alone. Positions 3 and 4 are hum-canceling combinations of the single coils. These guitar pickups have plenty of punch. The bridge pickup provides a nice twang but also has enough midrange to sound good distorted. Position 2 offers a fine funk tone, and the neck pickup by itself gives enough warmth for jazz combined with plenty of bite for blues. The middle two together make a unique sound that may someday be known as the DiPinto Guitar Tone, like a single-coil neck/middle combo but with more mids. The strength of the Galaxie 4 guitar lies in its style both visually and sonically. Take one of these on-stage and the audience will be talking about it for weeks. Onstage or in the studio, the DiPinto Galaxie 4 will give you a leg up on developing a sound of your own. At these prices they can be a welcome addition to your collection for that special sonic or stage occasion.
