Abe Wechter spent 9 years building guitars with the late Richard Schneider during which time he also worked as a model-maker and designer for Gibson Guitars. From 1984 until 1996 Abe built custom guitars in his own shop, developing a reputation as one of the world’s finest craftsmen and guitar designers. In 1997 Wechter Guitars moved into a new 6000 square foot building and began manufacturing the Pathmaker model. Their resonator guitars use a cone specified by Tim Scheerhorn. The cone has a very profound affect on tone, it is how it is fitted, and how the rest of the parts are assembled and fitted that make the difference.
