Since 1987, SXSW (South by Southwest) has produced the internationally recognized Music and Media Conference & Festival, which showcases hundreds of musical acts from around the globe on over fifty stages in downtown Austin. Initially started as the Austin Battle of the Bands, SXSW is a group of interactive, film, and music festivals and conferences that take place each spring. SXSW is one of the largest music festivals in the United States, and showcases more than 1,400 bands and solo musicians performing in dozens of venues over several days. The SXSW Music Conference also coincides with the annual Austin Music Awards show. The workshops and panels are very educational and address current issues, trends, and technologies in the music industry. This conference is an excellent networking opportunity for musicians and a great way to get your music to the people who can make a difference in your career.
